In the coming months we will turn our weekend attentions to the backyard. Decisions on what to take out and what to put in will have to be made. Do we leave the monster dog kennel now that we only have a geriatric Great Dane who couldn’t push his way out of a paper bag? How much hardscaping should replace the lawn? Which areas get planting beds? Should we leave the naturalized poinsettia? Lots of questions. And lots of answers to choose from.
Not that any or all of this is going to be done quickly and easily. Things just don’t work like that around here. More like a continual work in progress.
When I look at webs like the one in the picture, I think of our house and yard. We’re more about serviceability than about perfection. Sure, it’s great if things look like a photo shoot for House Beautiful. But honestly, around here, it’s more likely to be an opening segment for This Old House. I’ll keep the blog posted of progress–just don’t hold your breath.
