No, I’m not talking about the weather. I am in seventh heaven with my new stash of Garden Divas by Jane Sassaman. Certain collections resonate in a big way–so big you feel the possibilities are truly mind boggling. You may have your favorite designer and each and every collection makes you happy. But there is always a collection that comes along and floors you. Garden Divas is one of those collections for me.
I’m not entirely sure what triggers this overwhelming response. My best guess has something to do with the bugs being back in play, the colorways playing so well amongst themselves, the completely different looks you can achieve making the same thing with different colorways…well, you get the idea. All of it is really getting to me.
These quilted pillow covers give you a good idea of how happy and upbeat this collection can be. The pinks and greens are shouting “Spring!” Can you hear them?
Instead of quilting the square cover I embroidered it. My wonky bullion stitches in the middle give it a lot of textural interest as do the blue french knots that follow the path of vines weaving their way around the pillow.
I’ve written a pattern and put it in the shop so you can make your own version. This is an excellent way to play with fussy cut pieces. And the covers remove easily with a Velcro closure on the back. I’ve also made these two in Jennifer Paganelli’s Queen Street but I’ll save those to show you another day.
