Ah, the joy of getting a package delivered. Especially, if it has books or fabric in it. Unexpected ones are best. The UPS lady honks when she pulls up, giving me plenty of time to make it to the door.
When we still had the dogs, she always had treats for them too. The dogs and I were quite the sight, I’m sure–bright eyed, drooling and tail wagging. Without the dogs, I try to act a little more subdued. Sadly, there’s no one to blame the drool spots on any more.
However, before there was UPS or FedEx or anyone else operating express parcel delivery services, there was Railway Express Agency. Trucks like this one would arrive at the train station to pick up parcels for delivery.
If you’d like to learn more about the history of Railway Express, this site is a good place to begin.
