A Mug Rug Template

Let’s just admit it.  I’m the kind of quilter/crafter/seamstress who thinks patterns are more like guidelines and rules are meant to be broken. I work by instinct and intuition more than by rules.  It works for me. But I understand this fly-by-the-seat-your-pants process isn’t for everyone.

Whether I’m making mug rugs or scrappy blocks, I just start cutting and sewing. For some of you, the mere thought of this is enough to give you hives.  For me, totally liberating.  Perhaps I can entice you to play along with me by giving you a template to calm your fears and ease your mind.

Cut your pieces out pursuant to the following diagram.  (Click on the pictures to enlarge.)

Now start sewing.

See, that wasn’t so hard, was it?  Ready to make more?  If you do make some, please share pictures.  I’d love to see them.

LOL!!! Okay…this just cracks me up…only because of my blog post the other day about being such a 'rule follower'! This is exactly why I like "hanging out" with you…because you make me 'color outside the lines', so to spealk. LOVE it!! xoxoxox

I have printed your "guidelines", and I certainly have enough fabric that I don't know what to do with to make a mug rug… I will definately show you pics when I get one made (but don't hold your breath, I have quite a queue of projects). It's a whole new year full of potential!

    Yours are beautiful!

I don't know how you post so fast. I can barely keep up with you. I like the diagrams – it makes it all so easy to follow along.
