In the middle of organizing the sewing area I took time out for a quick project using Jennifer’s Super Fly. The large scale of the two prints in the collection are perfect for accent pieces around your home. You can even add a dash of Sis Boom drama to your sewing area.
The tabletop ironing board was purchased at IKEA for only $4.99. To use the print with the lengthwise grain along the length of the board, you will need one yard of the Jane print from Jennifer Paganelli’s Super Fly collection. You could also run the print on the crosswise grain, in which case you only need a half yard piece.
Use the cover that comes with the ironing board as a pattern. Simply remove it, iron it flat, folded it in half and place it on the center of the design you wish to highlight. No need to add a seam allowance–simply cut around the old cover. Sew single fold bias tape around the edges on the right side, starting and stopping at the center of the blunt end. Fold over to backside, press and stitch in place. Thread the cording through the casing you’ve just created. That’s all it takes!

Are you serious!?!?! This is so cute and so functional…I’m going to have to do it! Too bad I don’t have an Ikea store in my area, but I’ve seen these. Looks awesome with a little bit of Sis Boom…but, what wouldn’t?
So fresh looking!
What a wonderful way to add a lift to your sewing room! And don’t you just love those quick projects you can get finished in an afternoon. Thank you once again for sharing your inspiring ideas!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this, Melissa!!!
Love how fresh and clean it looks. The large pattern works really well.
You gotta love being able to hang up the ironing board and have it completely out of the way!

PS
Have I told you yet how much l love the fact that commenting on your new site is sooooo easy? no funky codes, no figuring out wobbly numbers and letters, no filling in of information upon my return to the site – it really is easy. I may have to change to this method because it really does make a difference to the reader.

I like it too, Carolina. That Captcha stuff is getting ridiculous. I love the fact that once I’ve approved you to comment here, your comments no longer wait for my moderation. So much easier to start conversations, I think.
It turned out so lovely! You should be able to find these at Target and Walmart too-for those who don’t have an IKEA. I used to have one and loved it! It got shuffled in a move. Boo!
Good point! Target and other stores should be well stocked on tabletop ironing boards during Back-to-school sales.
