Last month Free Spirit asked me to come up with a project to coordinate with Denyse Schmidt’s new pattern, Between the Lines. Something other than a pillow or table topper. After mulling over a few ideas, I settled on a mat carrier. For those of you who attend quilt classes or go to quilt camp, managing your tools and accessories can be a challenge. This project fits an 18″ square rotary cutting mat (or smaller) and has a pocket on the back for patterns, tools, etc. With Denyse’s permission, I reduced the size of her block and used it for the sample project. The pattern itself is for any 18″ finished quilt block size. Pick your favorite block, or blocks, and use it to personalize your own mat carrier. Or go quick and easy and simply substitute a favorite large scale print for the front piece. It’s up to you.
