Finally!!!

I am so excited to show you the new kitchen! Originally, I wanted a few more decorative details before grabbing photos, but I just couldn’t stand the wait. So…without further delays…kitchen W NW wallWe’re missing a covering on that little space above the microwave. It requires a custom door, which still needs to be made. For now, a few extra dishes fill the space. The cook top is induction and I love it! I’m still marveling at how fast water boils using electromagnetic induction. And look at that full size dishwasher! No more junior size appliance in this kitchen.coffee stationAnd then there’s the coffee station. It even has a black sink that blends into the counter top and doesn’t show coffee stains. Without a doubt, this is the most heavily used area of the kitchen. I told Mr. P it’s like we have two kitchens–a little Euro kitchen (the coffee station) and a regular small kitchen. I’m feeling very, very fortunate.seating areaFinally, my favorite spot, the new seating area. We actually have a place to sit and eat! Quite a miracle, really. I love having my morning coffee here. I have a view out the back door, or if I choose, out one of the windows. Currently, the bougainvillea on the front of the house is blooming and makes a great visual pick-me-up.bougainvillea viewThere is a lot of decorating and accessorizing left to do. Top on the list–covers for those chairs. I bought the white covers because they were the least expensive and I knew I was going to cover them anyway. I’ll have to get started on that very soon because a certain black cat likes to spend a bit of her visiting time in them. Thank goodness for lint rollers.Stinka in the kitchenSo…if you’re wondering about the details of this job, here’s the rundown:

  • Cabinets:  IKEA Adel (off white)
  • Hardware: IKEA (knobs and pulls, faucets, under cabinet lighting)
  • Sinks: IKEA
  • Counter top: Formica solid surface (aka Surell) from solidsurface.com
  • Flooring: Armstrong’s Alterna Luxury Vinyl Tile
  • Ceiling: Paintable wall paper
  • Paint: walls are Behr’s Swiss Coffee (a perfect match for the cabinet color, by the way); ceiling, crown moulding and base board are Behr’s Ultra Pure White

As I add more pops of color and interest to the room, I’ll be sharing it. It’s things like this that will bring the space to life.Mixer coverThank you all for being so patient. The last three months have been a bit of a blur. Now, we can finally get back to fabric oriented creativity. I hope you’re ready to have some fun this summer!

Love your new kitchen space with the eat in table and chairs. A quick fix for the chair covers, dye them an appliqué when you get the chance. That way you can have a change set. Of course I would love to see you make covers bold and colorful, like some Kaffe or Phillip. Or maybe some Jane S would look great. Enjoy your new space!
