Days are beginning to run together. I find it increasingly hard to believe the calendar says “September” already. It feels a bit like being in a slow, mad rush towards some indefinable moment. A bit like I imagine it must be for this caterpillar. Chewing his way through my flat leaf parsley, his progress slow but persistent, he has a goal. It’s not something he knows, of course. He’s just doing his thing. And one day, he’ll be a beautiful Black Swallowtail butterfly.
(I don’t begrudge him the parsley. After all, it’s the least I can do to ensure there will be more butterflies. Stinka seems to think they’re snacks and eats her fair share–wings and all.)Last week, I took some time to do a bit of online fabric shopping. Anna Maria Horner has kits for receiving blankets, perfect for those upcoming grandnieces and grandnephews. Flannel on one side, buttery soft voile on the other, bound with cotton–easy and luxurious. You can’t beat that for a baby gift. While I was filling my cart, I had to throw in some Studio Scraps. These are a welcome addition to my EPP project stash. Just before checking out, I added a tapestry kit. Because, eventually, I’ll have some time to make another one.
In the meantime, it’s back to sample sewing! I’m off to make another cup of coffee. I’ll be back soon with a giveaway.
