Happy Almost Friday! I have some great fabric to share with you today. As part of Free Spirit’s One Fabric Nation program, I received a yard of each sku in Nel Whatmore’s Orient collection. In exchange, I get to tell you what I think, show ways to use them and otherwise inspire you.I don’t think you’ll need too much encouragement to work with these. The diamonds (print on the bottom of the stacks) and the chopsticks (third from the top) will work well with many different styles. Modern or traditional quilter, you won’t have any problem mixing these into your stash.
If you aren’t familiar with Nel, you really need to visit her. You can find her on Facebook, Twitter, and her website. She’s an amazing artist whose passion for life and beauty is clearly evident in all she does. You can practically feel it seeping out of this fabric collection, can’t you? It’s probably no surprise that I love the blues best. But for the first project, I mixed it up a bit. Dresden fans are a perfect fit for this collection, of course. And then there’s that beautiful round medallion to consider.A bit of applique, some big stitch quilting and a few embroidered daisies complete the look. I’ll have more to share throughout the month. And at the end of it, someone will win some of their very own Orient to play with. So stay tuned for all of it!
For now, have a happy Friday, and to everyone in the US, a safe holiday weekend.
