It’s the very last day of the year. I sit here with my coffee, mulling over just what I want to say, how I want to wind up the year. It’s been a crazy year but in a quiet way. Things didn’t work out quite like I expected. (No surprise there, really.) Other things popped up out of nowhere. But through it all, there has been a sense of transition. As though the scene is fading out, ready to cut to a new act. I don’t know exactly what that act will be, but that’s the sense I’ve been having.
There have been some great discussions online about blogging. Is it dead? Is it even viable? What’s the point? Yadda, yadda, yadda. Some people have made the decision to stop blogging. Others are leaving the field altogether. Some are limiting their time to Instagram. There is no wrong decision. Life places ever changing demands on us, which necessitates changes both in our real world lives and our online lives.
But all of this has me thinking about the best way to proceed here in my little corner of creativity. Don’t panic! I’m not abandoning the blog. If anything, I know even more concretely I am meant to use this format. This is my virtual home and I intend to stay in it, ready to welcome you whenever you stop by. And I so appreciate your visits and comments.
However, in the coming year, I want to focus on giving you tools to develop and enhance your own vision. I’ll still be providing you with inspirational projects and free patterns–same as always. But I’ll be spending some time helping/pushing/encouraging you to step outside your comfort zone. I believe the very best way to play with fabric is to play without rules. I want to give you a safety net and gentle push into that no-rule-zone. Are you ready?
I’ll be honing new skills (more on that in a future post), exploring new creative outlets and following through on some ideas I’ve had brewing for a while. You’ll get to see most of that here. I think it’s going to be a fun year and I’m looking forward to sharing my 2016 journey with you!
