Ready to start off your week with a burst of color? How about more of Kaffe’s Artisan collection? You may recall Free Spirit sent me some of each print in this collection to make inspiration pieces. (You can see my quilt in this post.) Until last week, I hadn’t made any projects with the Sunny colorway. On Friday, I changed that. The Embroidered Flower Border print is so versatile. You can cut rows of Width of Fabric flowers or use them for fussy cutting, as I did in the quilt. If you cut from it haphazardly for scrappy projects, you’ll get a range. It won’t look like all the pieces came from the same print.
For this project, I chose the orange version and paired it with Rake in pumpkin to make the exterior of a simple but practical tote. The handy little zip pouch was the perfect excuse to choose another print–this time, Layered Stripe in orange. The pouch utilizes a small D ring with swivel hook so you can hang it on the handles (with the pouch inside or out, as you choose) or remove it to use on its own.I made you a pattern that includes both projects. I’ve called this one Sunshiney Day. Click here for the pdf. Or head to the Freebies page in the future.
