Happy Friday! Was it a good week for you? I managed to finish up the Kaffe Flying Geese quilt this week. I’m so pleased with it! The colors are just right for summer. The individual geese units are approximately 3″ x 6″. I sewed them together in groups of four. If you use the No Waste Flying Geese method, you get four units so it just made sense. Then I sewed them into rectangular blocks of three–one across and two up/down. I backed it with a Kaffe Wide Backing and quilted it with a curly meander using Superior Threads Masterpiece thread. And then the most important step of all, Stinka offered Cat Approval.
If I had to make this many geese using the traditional method, I wouldn’t have bothered. But the No Waste Method saves on time, as well as on fabric. I’ve already started a new project with a few Flying Geese in it. That’s how much I like the method. Google “No Waste Flying Geese” and you’ll get plenty of photos, tutorials and calculators to make some of your own.
We have a long holiday weekend here at Casa P. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get some fun sewing stuff done. In between good food and lazing about. Have a wonderful weekend at your house!
