Winter time in San Diego means the weeds are growing like crazy. Fortunately, the succulent garden is weed free–for now. And the succulents are quite happy. The sunny days have yielded a lot of growth in this little bed. It’s already time to separate the purslane. I keep meaning to set aside time for that, but I get distracted. Obviously, the fabric interferes with my plans for yard work but so do these guys. There are usually a few crows in the fountain every morning. It’s hard to get photos. I have to stand away from the front window and be very quiet. But I usually take a little time to watch them whenever I notice they’re out there. They definitely have a pecking order. The juveniles come together and do not come at all when the older, larger birds are taking their turn.Sending you Happy Friday greetings from Casa P. Have a great weekend, everyone!
The winner of the fox fabric is Donna Phelps, who said, “Probably my favorite animal would be a peacock with its beautiful colors and long neck. I cannot say I like the noise they make though, Thanks for the chance. The pillow and fox are adorable.” Check your Inbox for my email, Donna.
To everyone else, thanks for entering and sharing your favorite animal. I know it will come as no surprise that my favorite animal is the cat–house cats, jungle cats, snow cats, you name it. It’s hard not to admire an animal that can have such regal bearing on minute and the next minute be cavorting with unseen forces and playing imaginary games à la T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats–one of my favorites.
A couple weeks ago, Free Spirit asked me if I could whip up a quick project with a fox theme using Dena’s Fox Playground fabric. Here’s what I put together.Free Spirit has a free pattern for the pillow and applique here. I also made a quick fox mask, the file for which is found here. The projects are quick and easy, so if you have a little one you still need a gift for, consider making a fox pillow.
There is fabric left to giveaway as well. I have one yard each of the zig zag print, the orange with blue dots and the all over fox and friends print. That’s three yards total! So….here’s the deal:
