Ready for a little embroidery show and tell? A couple weeks ago I started a new embroidery project. I had intended for it to be small and quick. You’ll see that I completely missed the boat on the small part. Instead of something about four inches square, I ended up with something suitable for a pillow.I used my gorgeous Anna Maria Horner embroidery threads. To begin, I simply drew the design on the fabric freehand. I wanted a folksy feel with plenty of opportunities to add french knots. Then it was simply a matter of color selection and easy stitching. I set the design in Amy Butler’s Lark fabrics. The colors go together beautifully and the new pillow matches the one I showed you in this post.
I love the look and feel of handwork around the house. For me, it adds a layer of subtlety. Something about the quiet moments reflected in the finished project. As if an old soul lives here.
Is there any needlework in your life right now? Any thread projects you’re dying to make? If so, I’d love to hear about them.
