Welcome to this stop on the Modern Prairie Blog Hop! I’m so happy to be part of Abigail’s celebration. I met most of the lovely Long Ladies a few years ago at Quilt Market. We immediately felt like family and ever since, I’ve considered them to be my “adopted” nieces. I’m very proud of Abi’s accomplishment, even if I’m not related by blood. She’s done a great job writing a book that portrays her style and personality.
The book is geared to the younger sewing crowd, Abi’s contemporaries, but it has a great mix of projects that can be used by sewers of any age. The instructions are clearly written and easy to follow. As Jona mentioned in her post yesterday, this is a great go-to book for last minute gift giving.
I chose to make the Amy bag–a fun little bag, perfect for magazines and miscellany. Abi’s touch of lace overlay is just the thing to add a bit of sweetness to a basic bag. I used Heather Bailey’s Garden District home decor weight fabric for my bag, along with a simple dot lace for the overlay.I almost used this fabric combination of Anna Maria Horner’s home dec weight with some teal lace. It’s still sitting by the sewing machine, so perhaps I’ll get a chance to whip this one up as well.Sometimes, we just need to take time out for an easy project “just because”. This is one of those “just because” projects that will bring a smile to your face. Or to the face of anyone who receives it as a gift.Be sure to visit the other stops on the blog hop:
