The days are long and hot. There’s less coffee and more iced tea. But more importantly, there is a new project underway. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw my pulls of Anna Maria Horner fabric and the beginnings of some foundation piecing. It started out with a simple arc and just keeps growing. This is my favorite type of creating–the organic, spontaneous creating. It involves lots of time wondering and auditioning and squinting and hoping. There is a lot of mulling things over before the next step. Having a very healthy stash of AMH fabric is a big help, of course. I started out with all warm tones. But as the medallion center expanded, the need for some blues and greens became evident. So back to the stash I went. I’ll pull a few more this week as I work on the last pieced bits for the medallion.I still have a lot of decisions ahead. What types of borders. How many. Which fabrics. How big will it finally be. Lots to think about. But I am thoroughly enjoying this activity. It’s been a while since I made a quilt this way and I’ve missed the process.
What summer projects have been taking up your time and attention? I’d love to hear about them.
