Next month, Jane Sassaman’s exciting new collection, Spring Fever, will be shipping to stores. I’ve already had a chance to work with it and I can tell you, unequivocally, it’s AWESOME! I made two quilts for Market this time around. The quilt that Stinka is showing off is called Siesta in the Garden and will be available as a free pattern from Free Spirit in the near future. As regular readers know, I never pass up an opportunity to fussy cut, especially when it comes to Jane’s fabulous feature prints. So for this quilt design, I used four 90 degree triangles to create a large block. Then I added simple sashing to highlight some of the other prints. It’s an easy quilt but it does take a lot of yardage. You will end up with some lovely leftovers of the feature print for other projects.I’ll be showing you more of this collection next month. For now, you should go check out the all the prints and colorways. Then, make your list. You’ll want to supplement your stash with some Sassy Stripes and Over The Top Dots at the very least.
June! Can you believe it?! It’s already June. Summer is upon us. (Or Winter, if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere.)I’m finishing up this little EPP project in Tula Pink’s Tabby Road. It’s a table runner so it’s a very manageable size both to EPP and to actually finish. I’ll be putting together a little pattern for it, just in case you want this kind of project for yourself. You’ll see that this project has already been Cat Approved. Stinka has donated at least one cat hair to the project. You can see one hiding right there under the binding on the back. Sigh…cats. Totally worth it.Also, I’ve started another Kaffe Project. There were fat quarters left from last year’s Kaffe posts for Free Spirit. I pulled them out and started playing with Flying Geese using the no-waste method. I love this method. They turn out perfectly and go quickly. Google “no waste flying geese method” and you’ll find all kinds of tutorials and calculators for this method.
That’s all the news from here. For now, anyway. Have a Happy Friday and a Happy June!
Wow! May 1st….how did that happen?! While I wasn’t looking, the days slipped past in a blur. During that time however, I finished up the guide/pattern for the Pretty Kitty quilt. You can find the pdf here. It’s listed in the Freebies too, so you can locate it there in the future. If you’re not keen on EPP, substitute any 14″ finished block of your choice. Preferably using some fussy cut Disco Kitties as a feature. Or if you only want to make one of the EPP blocks, turn it into a pillow cover for a bit of whimsical fun. You have options. Lots and lots of options.
But speaking of EPP, I have another Tabby Road EPP project in the works using the Strawberry Fields colorway. Octagons are the central focus for what it is likely to be a pillow cover.
What’s been filling your days lately? Projects? Life stuff? Adventures? Whatever it is, remember to carve out time to enjoy the simple things.
