They begin simply without a lot of fuss. Even at this stage they have an interesting appearance. I look at them and think of fairy tales. For to my mind’s eye, these may be encasing magical creatures. If you watched them open under moonshine in the middle of the night, would a small winged creature covered in pixie dust emerge?
This picture of Villa Helius, a residence of Barcelona’s Art Nouveau designer Manuel Joaquim Raspall, always makes me happy. The tile work and the iron work speak earthy volumes.
I may not get away with a Gaudi influence in the new backyard plans. But something like this could actually happen. A little stonework, some tile, splashes of color….sounds inviting, doesn’t it?
