Hard to believe this plant comes from the same family as tea plants. Also hard to believe is that this individual plant is probably as old as the house. We never, and I do mean never, water this one. We hack it down to nothing and it just keeps coming back, blooming every year. The only pampering it gets is warm air from the dryer vent.
I think this is a good metaphor for what I want to be– deeply rooted, persistent, and able to bloom despite “adverse” conditions. Oh, and let’s not forget the part about the warm air. I like that part too.
