It’s December already! But it’s Friday, so we have that going for us. I’m glad you’re here today because I’m sharing my first post of Jane Sassaman’s newest collection for Free Spirit, Scandia. (This is all part of Free Spirit’s One Fabric Nation program, which if you aren’t already aware, boils down to this: I receive advance yardage direct from the mill and do whatever I feel inspired to do. Then I share it with you and eventually, we do a giveaway. I’m not under any obligation to rave or drool. I say all this as a reminder because, you know….SASSAMAN FABRIC!!! I can’t help the raving.)
I pieced and quilted this throw size quilt for Quilt Market. Jane designed the pattern and I wrote the instructions, which will be available as a free pattern on the MakeItCoats website sometime in the near future. It’s full of fussy cutting and makes the most of the Tile, Cardigan and Vineyard prints.Three colorways make up this collection–Blue, Red and Purple. Notice the Over The Top Dots. It’s like getting two of Jane’s dots in one piece of yardage! Keep this in mind when figuring out the necessary yardage for a project.
My favorite colorway is the Red one. It’s just so simply dramatic. And of course, it’s fitting right in for the holidays. Even though this won’t ship until January, you’ll still have time to use it for Valentine’s projects. There is a lovely table topper at my machine right now, waiting for quilting and binding. I can’t wait to show you!
For now, have fun dreaming up some of your own uses for this lively collection of Scandinavian inspired quilty goodness.
