All of these plants could actually be considered weeds as they grow without our permission or intention. Numerous bulbs have naturalized over the years.
And soon the calla lilies will open providing a dramatic view along the side of the house where no one goes. I like this idea–of blooming where you are despite it being the “wrong” place, or the out of the way place. A great reminder.
They begin simply without a lot of fuss. Even at this stage they have an interesting appearance. I look at them and think of fairy tales. For to my mind’s eye, these may be encasing magical creatures. If you watched them open under moonshine in the middle of the night, would a small winged creature covered in pixie dust emerge?
