Happy Friday! I did not plan to be away from the blog this long but stuff happened. All the stuff going on with the bathroom renovation plus crazy hot weather and some deadlines for projects I can’t show you until Fall, and on top of that, the phone, internet and TV all went dead. When it rains it pours! But…I’m here today with an idea for you using Amy’s new collection, Eternal Sunshine. Regular readers know I received a yard of each sku from Free Spirit as part of One Fabric Nation. I’ve had great fun working with this collection. This group of prints is my favorite. The blue/green, aqua/turquoise with the rust and and pink is a happy mix which brings lazy summer days in the shade to mind. You might prefer these garnet and gold prints instead. You can hardly go wrong with any of them. For this virtual quilt, I selected the Rose Vine print in both Lake and Wine. The print will make great borders and has the power to transform a simple quilt into something very special. But for this quilt it’s all cut to pieces. The movement in these blocks works so well with the large scale of the print. I’m showing you a solid off-white background but a soft text print would look stunning. For the border I chose Rose Lore but any of the prints would provide a beautiful frame for these blocks. So…here’s a breakdown on this quilt…
- Finished size is 62″ square
- Comprised of nine 20″ blocks with a 1″ border
- Each block has 16 Drunkard’s Path blocks (each measuring 5″ when finished)
- The quilt requires four fabrics for the quilt top: 1 1/4 yards of Rose Vine in Lake, 1 1/8 yards of Rose Vine in Wine, 1/3 yard of Rose Lore in Sky and 3 yards of an off-white solid. Four yards of backing and 1/3 yard of binding (for a narrow, double fold binding of 2″ strips).
You might want to start making your list. The collection will be in stores next month. I’m working up another free pattern for you for next week using Rose Lore, so don’t forget to check back in!
Have a wonderful weekend!
