Pretty As You Please Clutch

Pretty As You Please ClutchI couldn’t resist making another clutch. This time denim adds stability instead of burlap and a pleated strip of Amy Butler’s Dancing Paisleys from her Soul Blossoms collection adds the punch of color.  Pretty As You Please Clutch interiorI added a nostalgic touch to the clutch lining with some green gingham. It’s a happy little surprise on the inside.Pretty As You Please Clutch closeupThe addition of a fancy brooch takes this little clutch to another level of fun. It’s the juxtaposition of fancy and functional that really makes it work.

And guess what? Now you can make your own clutch! I finished writing the pattern and put it up in the Etsy shop. Click here for the listing. My patterns are all pdf files and I try to get them emailed to you within 24 hours. Sometimes, you’ll get lucky and have it in five minutes if I’m sitting at the computer when you place your order.

This is such an easy project to make. You could have a small stack of these whipped up in a weekend, if you were so inclined. (They’d make great gifts if you can part with one.) As with all of my patterns, I keep it simple so you can put your stamp on it through fabric choices, embellishments, etc. Possibilities are endless!

Zazzle Dazzle

Spiderweb quilt mug on ZazzleSometimes I feel guilty posting things I know will make you drool.  Not that I mind the drool. I just feel bad knowing most of you do not have the time to replicate the projects. I want you to be inspired to do so; but I understand when you can’t.

One of my goals in setting up the website was to give you another way of interacting with the images of my projects. You don’t have to go back through old blog posts to find the big projects–you can simply visit the portfolio pages.  (Those pages will continue to be updated and new pictures of old projects will show up in time as well.) Happily, that seems to be the way a lot of you are using the site.

zazzle shop for 100 Billion StarsBut  I felt I needed to provide one more way for you to enjoy your favorites. Now you can find items in my Zazzle store that use some of my images.  Things like mugs featuring the Spiderweb Sis Boom quilt and the Crazy Beautiful Crazy Love quilt. A couple of note cards are on the product list too. You’ll even find Petey and Stinka over there.

So while you’re never going to get your hands on my Spiderweb quilt, you can get your hands around a mug with that fabulous quilt right on the side. Currently, there are only the two quilts and the kitties brightening things up over there. Be sure to let me know if you have a favorite image from the blog that you’d like on a mug, card, magnet, mouse pad, etc.

Happy shopping!

Smart Cards get a Facelift

If you live or work in a building that has some type of Smart Card system in place, you know how dull those key cards can be.  Maybe you use one at work instead of typing passwords to log in.   If you have one, you probably don’t think much about it other than to be sure you have it.

Wouldn’t it be nice to keep it in something colorful?  Something that stands out.  Something that might even help you find it in the bottom of your bag or glove compartment.

These card holders are intended to brighten up your routine and add a smile to your day to day experience.  If your key card can be read through a wallet or pants pocket, it can be read through these pretty fabrics from Amy Butler and Jennifer Paganelli.

And if you don’t use a Smart Card, these would make a great wrapping for a gift card for someone special.  Or maybe you want to use it to keep your ID and debit card when you just don’t want to haul along a purse.

I’ve been wanting to put something small in the shop for a while now.  Something inexpensive but pretty and practical to keep you smiling.  Well, these are those somethings.  Over the next several days, these and others will be put in the shop a couple at a time.   So keep your eye on the new Etsy widget for one that you can’t live without.

Come On In!

It’s official. I now have an Etsy shop! My Etsy shop is 100 Billion Stars. I hope you will visit it often. Currently, the shop is stocked with only a few items. Over the weekend I will be adding more pieces to the inventory.

You will notice a gadget in the sidebar that displays newly added items. You can click on it to go directly to the shop.

It’s all a bit scary and exciting. And fun. Let’s not forget the fun! That’s the reason I opened the shop….to share the fun I have creating and playing.
