Color acts as a constant attractor for me. You may have noticed. Color inspiration is everywhere. But sometimes, people get stuck and just can’t see it. Whatever the reason, whether you’re weighed down by the daily grind or having a creative block, there are some tools to help. One is a color generator. There are various sources online. I used this one for these images. Google “color palette generator” and you’ll get a list. Just upload an image and the generator will spit out the predominate colors in the image. You can see from this chart just how many shades of green are in the photo.Looking at those swatches of colors can start the wheels turning. How about a quilt with subtle grays, shades of lilac and hints of green and yellow? Or grayish greens and golds with splashes of purple?
This type of tool can be a gift if you’re stuck in a color rut. Grab some images and run them through the generator. You may be surprised by some of the colors that start whispering to you. Keep an open mind and have fun.
